Paul Warford
Paul Warford began performing comedy in 2002, going on to join the Yuk Yuk’s roster in 2008. He was invited to participate in the Just For Laughs Homegrown Competition in 2010, a selection of 8 comedians across Canada, performing in Toronto and Montreal. He has been aired on CBC’s stand-up comedy radio feature, CBC LOL (2016). In 2016 he produced the talk show, Eventually with Paul Warford at Yuk Yuk’s, St. John’s. He won the $3000 grand prize for St. John’s Last Comic Standing (2019). He was selected to be featured on Just For Laughs’ album recording, Stand-Up Altantic: Infinity Plus Pizza (2021), which is currently available on Spotify and Apple Music. He produced, wrote, and hosted the comedy show, Paul Warford: Die, Die Again, at Boca Tapas Bar & Lounge in St. John’s, commemorating his 20th year in standup comedy.
Paul writes a syndicated, monthly humor introspective column for Downhome Magazine entitled, What Odds, currently in its tenth year.
Paul is an original (and board) member of GRIND MIND, the independent horror film collective based in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Paul has featured as cast in over 30 GRIND MIND films of varying length and was the writer of the 15-second short, Exorcise the Demon, for GRIND MIND’s submission to the (now defunct) 15-Second Horror Film Challenge for its 2019 season. The short was placed on many guest judges’ “top 10” selection lists. Paul also plays “Morgul,” the horror host of Deadflix, GRIND MIND’s episodic web series, for which he also writes all of the host’s dialogue.
Paul is also the box office/ticketing manager for FogFest, GRIND MIND’s annual genre film festival in St. John’s, Newfoundland. He has also acted as the host of this event in its inaugural year (2019) and has been assured the position as host for FogFest in its upcoming 2024 iteration, and from then on in perpetuity.
Paul has worked in the St. John’s film industry in craft services, camera assistance, background acting, and speaking roles on a number of productions, including (but not limited to) Hudson & Rex, Son of A Critch, and several Hallmark films. Paul had a supporting role as Ernie in the 2023 feature film, Party Pirate (Blue Pinion Films).
